The incident involves a 17-year-old patient, a resident of Quang Phu ward in Quang Ngai city, who had first been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus as an F1 case on July 26 after coming into close contact with a COVID-19 patient in Da Nang.
After going on to record several negative tests for the virus, the patient was subsequently released from hospital on August 12 before undergoing a period of isolation at his home.
Despite this, the patient began to display symptoms of fatigue and breathing difficulty on August 16 before returning to the hospital, although sample taken for the RT-PCR test on August 16 and August 18 came back negative.
Following this, the patient continued to be tested for the virus on August 26, with his results on August 28 coming back positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Upon the detection of the relapse case, he was then immediately transferred to the province’s field hospital to receive treatment.
