Quang Nam stricly supervise the residential areas of COVID-19 cases.

Currently, localities throughout the region are racing to trace those who came into close contact with the five latest COVID-19 cases detected in the ancient town of Hoi An and Dai Loc district. There is also a particular focus on zoning off affected areas, deploying compulsory quarantine measures, and taking test samples of suspected COVID-19 cases.

Dr. Vo Hong Hai, director of Dai Loc district’s medical centre, emphasised that after detecting positive COVID-19 cases, local authorities moved to transfer 257 people who had come into close contact with the cases into quarantine camps, with each individual’s test samples being immediately taken, while an additional 722 other cases must now self-isolate at home.

Dr. Hai noted that local medical workers are regularly spraying disinfectant at the homes of the 722 cases that have self-quarantined, in addition to checking their body temperature twice a day in order to detect those with COVID-19 symptoms in a timely manner.

With Hoi An, a UNESCO-recognised World Heritage Site, implementing a social distancing order in line with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s Directive 16 from 0:00 on July 31, Quang Nam province will continue to deploy social distancing measures across five localities including Dien Ban town and the districts of Dai Loc, Duy Xuyen, Que Son, and Thang Binh

Tran Uc, chairman of Dien Ban town’s People's Committee, said the province is largely concerned with seeking different locations such as schools and colleges throughout the region to serve as isolation facilities due to the number of quarantined people continuing to rise.

The country has recorded a total of 509 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of 5pm on July 31, of which 276 had been imported cases with the individuals being immediately isolated upon arrival.

Most notably, the number of locally transmitted infections since July 25 has increased to 93, including 79 in Da Nang, eight in Quang Nam, two in Hanoi, two in Ho Chi Minh City, one in Quang Ngai, and one in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, with one fatality being reported so far.
