Quang Binh bus crash death toll rises to 15, figure may rise

VOV.VN - Seven more people have died in the tragic bus crash in Quang Binh province, central Vietnam, taking the death toll to 15, and the figure may continue to rise as several victims are in critical condition at hospital, according to local authorities

The bus turns turtle after the crash

As many as 25 people are undergoing treatment at the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi City of Quang Binh province. 

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoang Minh, deputy head of Bo Trach District Police said the bus flipped over a roadside and overturned at a road section on Ho Chi Minh Highway.

On board the bus were approximately 40 people mostly aged 45-47 and they all live in Dong Son ward, Dong Hoi City. They were on an excursion to Ozo park.

Nine people died at the scene and six others died at the hospital, said a representative of the Quang Binh provincial People’s Committee.

Another two injured people at the hospital are in critical condition, and the death toll may continue to rise, he added.

The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital deployed all doctors and nurses to provide emergency services for the injured people.

After the accident happened, provincial authorities rushed to the scene to direct relevant agencies to deal with the consequences of the accident.

Hearing about the news, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, who is also head of the National Committee on Traffic Safety asked Quang Binh to mobilise all resources to save the injured and investigate the cause of the accident.

A working team of the National Committee on Traffic Safety are set to arrive in Quang Binh to help the locality overcome the consequences of the tragic accident.
