Public Health Ministry to employ 1,200 people with disabilities
The Ministry of Public Health is set to hire more than 1,200 people with disabilities in an effort to promote employment.
Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Sopon Mekthon said Public Health Minister Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn attaches great significance to improving the lives of handicapped people.
People with disabilities will be hired by various health agencies to do the job compatible with their abilities.
The move is in compliance with the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2007 which has been amended to fit today's circumstances.
The Ministry of Public Health has so far employed 513 people with disabilities to work in health organizations in 47 provinces.
By the end of next year, a total of 1,230 handicapped people, which account for 54% of all people with disabilities, will be recruited to work at the ministry.
