Provincial and municipal People's Committees set to announce end of COVID-19

VOV.VN - Provincial and municipal People's Committees are eligible to direct specialized agencies to review the pandemic situation and announce the end of COVID-19 in accordance to their competence on the basis of the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the regulations of the Law on Infectious Disease Prevention and Control.

This information was announced by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control at the 20th online working session held on June 19.

The Steering Committee also requested that ministries, sectors, and localities continue studying recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in order to appropriately apply to the disease situation in Vietnam.

In addition, they should prepare plans for COVID-19 prevention and control suitable to the new situation, especially in terms of strengthening grassroots health care and preventive medicine, whilst also mobilising and using resources.

The Health Ministry has therefore been asked to research and implement vaccinations against COVID-19 in accordance with the current situation and consider putting it in the National Expanded Immunisation Programme.

The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control also agreed with the Health Ministry’s proposal of changing the COVID-19 from a Class A infectious disease, deemed as “especially dangerous”, to Class B, deemed as "dangerous".
