The action month on food safety will take place from April 15 till May 15, focusing on the fight against low-quality and counterfeit food to protect consumers.

It will feature an array of activities, including a communication campaign, conferences, workshops and inspections.

Six intersectoral groups will be set up to inspect food safety in 12 cities and provinces, namely Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Tri, Can Tho, Soc Trang, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Quang Nam and Da Nang.

Unscheduled inspections will also be conducted by the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Industry and Trade.

Press agencies and newspapers have been encouraged to participate in the communication campaign, under which safe products and production and business models will be honoured, and violators of regulations on food safety will be named and shamed.
