Press should report more on business climate improvement, PM says
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with leaders of press agencies in Hanoi on June 18, asking press outlets to report more on business climate improvement efforts.
The event, held on the threshold of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21), was also attended by representatives of major businesses.
PM Phuc lauded the contributions to national development from the VJA and reporters and editors of more than 800 press agencies nationwide.
He affirmed that the Party and the State attach importance to the role of the press and provide favourable conditions for them to work.
He asked press outlets to report more on business climate improvement, encourage the development of businesses and publish economists’ analyses of the socio-economic situation, thus helping enterprises make good business decisions.
The press and the business community should join hands to fight negative phenomena, interest groups, corruption and wastefulness, the PM added, voicing hope that they will be “companions” in the integration process.
The Government leader emphasised that the press plays a leading role in combating hostile forces, protecting the country’s sovereignty and territory and refuting slander.
At the meeting, VJA Chairman Thuan Huu briefed the PM about his association’s activities, adding that APEC Vietnam 2017 is a chance for the press to help domestic firms connect with Asia-Pacific businesses.
Representatives of enterprises also expressed their desire to partner with press agencies in production and business activities, social work and entrepreneurship promotion. They also asked the press to listen to their opinions, help them build brands and work with the Government to create a healthy business environment.
