Pre-Lunar New Year (Tet) visits to Truong Sa (Spratly) island district off central coastal Khanh Hoa province started on January 5.
The visits will bring Tet gifts, fresh food and foodstuff and other necessities to officers, soldiers and residents stationed across islands of the country’s Truong Sa island district.
They are participated by sector and industry representatives and over 100 reporters from central and local press companies across the country.
At a see-off ceremony held by the Navy Zone 4 High Command, Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee Dao Cong Thien said the annual visits to Truong Sa show how much care the Party, the State, the army, and people have given to those people who are safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands.
Ships serving the visits left the Cam Ranh naval base the same day.
