Police seize 350kg of drugs in bust of transnational drug ring
VOV.VN - The Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes joined efforts alongside the Drug and Crime Control Department under the Command of Border Guard to successfully smash a cross-border drug trafficking ring, seizing 350kg of drugs of various types in the process.
Police report that the group were smuggling an array of drugs into Vietnam from neighbouring Laos before then transporting them into Cambodia for the purpose of selling them on.
The first phase of operations saw police forces arrest three suspects in Thanh Chuong district of Nghe An province, during which they successfully seized 115kg of methamphetamine, 17,600 pills of synthetic drugs, two cars, along with one motorbike.
Upon expanding the case, police were able to catch a suspect from Lao Cai province as he was transporting 227.5kg of drugs in Quynh Thien commune of Hoang Mai Town in Nghe An province.
Most notably, approximately 350kg of drugs, three cars, one motorbike, and several other exhibits were seized during the raid. Moving forward, a further investigation into the cross-border drug trafficking ring will be carried out.
