Police dismantle transnational money laundering ring in central Vietnam
VOV.VN - The police of central Dong Nai province, in coordination with the police of Hanoi and Da Nang, have successfully dismantled a transnational online gambling, money laundering, and fraud network, with total transactions exceeding VND2 trillion.

During the operation launched on February 12, they arrested 18 suspects and seized multiple computers, mobile phones, and other tech devices after searching their residences and workplaces.
At the residence of K., the ring leader, authorities confiscated two computers, 13 mobile phones, 26 stamps, 100 used SIM cards, 80 unused SIM cards, over VND300 million in cash, and dozens of business registration certificates. These documents were used by K. and her accomplices to register shell companies, which were then sold to facilitate illegal financial transactions.
During interrogation, K. confessed to meeting J., a foreign national operating in Cambodia, through a commercial organization in Dong Nai. J. introduced K. to money laundering operations, in which profits were shared. K. was responsible for overseeing money laundering activities in Vietnam and received a monthly payment of VND450-500 million from J.
Since July 2024, K.’s group has transferred and received over VND2 trillion for foreign individuals. In addition, K. instructed two accomplices to establish over 30 shell companies and 150 corporate bank accounts, earning VND10 million per month from leasing these accounts for money laundering purposes.
Expanding the investigation, the police arrested three more suspects in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Hung Yen, seizing eight SIM cards linked to bank accounts, an RG88 handgun with 27 bullets, and various related documents and items.
Further investigations are underway by the police of Dong Nai province.
