PM Phuc calls for greater efforts to fight poverty

VOV.VN - The annual “All join hands for the poor” charity programme took place in Hanoi on October 17, in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The event is held in response to a movement known as “All join hands for the poor – No one left behind” which is launched by the Prime Minister. |
Those in attendance include Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, along with representatives from various ministries, and local agencies. |
PM Phuc notes that the Party and the State have always placed an emphasis on economic development running simultaneously with poverty reduction and social security. |
The Vietnamese cabinet leader calls for the whole nation to unite for the cause of helping the poor escape poverty and ensuring no one is left behind. |
People can join delegates by sending an SMS message to the National Humanitarian Portal on 1400. Messages should simply state “VNN n” with each SMS costing VND20,000. Money raised goes to a fund to help the poor. |
Since launching on August 19, more than VND5.1 billion has been collected through the National Humanitarian Portal on 1400 by 10pm on October 17. |
In recent years the charity programme has helped to improve the living conditions of deprived people in rural, remote, mountainous, and ethnic minority-inhabited areas. |
