PM directs proactive prevention action against severe cold spell

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued an official dispatch requesting that northern, north-central provinces, and some localities in the central region take proactive measures to prevent the negative impact of the ongoing severe cold wave.

Over the past few days a strong wave of cold air has sent the temperatures tumbling down to as low as 3°C in some places around the northern region, with mountainous highland areas encountering frost, ice, and snow.

This phenomena has negatively affected people's health, agro-forestry and fisheries production activities, and people’s preparations for the traditional Lunar New Year 2025 festival.

The PM asked relevant agencies and localities to enhance the communication and provide guidance to the public to help ensure health and safety, especially of the elderly, children, and vulnerable people.

He underscored the importance of providing medicine, medical examination, and treatment in a timely manner, alongside implementing measures to prevent hunger, cold, and epidemics for crops, livestock, and aquatic products to minimise damage to production activities, especially agricultural production.

Local authorities must closely monitor, regularly update weather developments, and provide timely notifications to residents, he requested.
