VOV.VN - As the nation’s latest novel coronavirus (COVID-19) hotspot, the northern province of Quang Ninh set up five check-points at midnight on January 28 following the detection of a positive COVID-19 case in the locality.

This comes after patient No.1,553, a 31-year-old Vietnamese security guard working at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh, tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Due to the latest local developments regarding the epidemic, Ha Long city has put some areas close to the patient's residence into lockdown, including around Hong Ha district.

A total of 47 households and over 200 residents are put into lockdown.

Local authorities, policemen, doctors, and young volunteers are on duty arround the clock at the province’s checkpoints.

The provincial administration has moved to impose social distancing measures on Chi Linh city. These rules will start from January 28 and last through to February 17.

Residents of Kim Dien village have been urged to remain at home and frequently sanitise their hands as part of COVID-19 prevention efforts.

Ha Long City remains quiet amid the COVD-19 epidemic. Conferences, events, wedding parties, sports, and entertainment activities taking place in public areas are now prohibited.
