Photo exhibition celebrates diplomatic ties with Indonesia

VOV.VN - A photo exhibition opened in Bali, Indonesia, on December 15 in both an online and offline form to mark the 65th anniversary of Vietnam-Indonesia diplomatic relations.

The six-day exhibition, hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta with collaboration from Bali's local authorities, see a total of 42 photos on display at the Monument to the Struggle of the People of Bali, roughly 230 photos showcasing President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno's exchange visits. This is in addition to an array of images that introduce the culture, history, and the land of both countries via YouTube.

In pre-recorded welcoming remarks to mark the launch of the exhibition, Megawati Sukarnoputri, former Indonesian President and current Chair of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), shared her memories on her previous experiences with Vietnam. She detailed the warm relationship between late President Ho Chi Minh and her father, late President of Indonesia Sukarno, during the former’s visit to Indonesia in 1959.

Sukarnoputri stressed that the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations will contribute to promoting the friendship between the people of the two countries.

In response, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Pham Vinh expressed his appreciation for the role and position of Bali as the leading economic and cultural centre of Indonesia. Indeed, the local diplomat stated his belief that Bali will soon overcome the challenges caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. Moving forward, the Indonesian city will continue to serve as a bridge that connects trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between both nations.
