Phia Oac-Phia Den National Park set up to protect biodiversity
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has just signed a decision on the establishment of Phia Oac-Phia Den National Park in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang to preserve typical ecosystem and biodiversity.
Also, natural forests will be recovered and more trees will be planted to increase forest coverage from 84 percent in 2016 to 95 percent in 2030 and provide natural habitat for animals and plants.
The park is designated to ensure environmental security and mitigate land erosion and floods, thus helping to stabilise production and improve livelihoods of local people in downstream regions.
Scientific research and activities will be held to preserve and develop endangered genetic sources, rescue wildlife animals and raise public awareness of the protection of environment and biodiversity.
Furthermore, actions will be taken to develop eco-tourism, thereby contributing to local socio-economic development.
