People stranded in heavy rain as huge landslides hit Lai Chau

VOV.VN - Many people were stranded on the National Highway 4D in Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau after a series of deadly landslides blocked roads in the area.

On June 25, almost all vehicles were unable to pass along the National Highway 4D in Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district.
Traffic police set up checkpoints at safety zones and prevented any vehicles from approaching the landslide prone areas to stop residents from putting themselves in danger.
A traffic policeman says prolonged rain is causing difficulties for vehicles passing through Lai Chau province. In the early morning of June 24, heavy rains caused extreme landslides, paralyzing the transport system between the localities of Lai Chau and Lao Cai. Sections affected by landslides have been cleared by workers to ensure through-traffic for residents.
Workers actively cleaned up mud and debris from the landslide areas until 8pm on June 25.
Several motorbikes have to stop as landslides have buried the road in mud and rocks.
