Passenger bus rams into Hanoi sidewalk eatery, several injured

VOV.VN - Several people were injured after a passenger bus plowed into a sidewalk eatery in Hanoi on March 14.

The incident happened at 11:00am at an eatery on Doi Can street, a crowded artery in Ba Dinh district, according to local police.

A passenger bus running on the road suddenly was said to lose control and crash into a restaurant on the sidewalk.

Two women standing and selling Bún Chả (fried spring rolls and fresh noodles) were injured in the leg, but they were not life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, six other people on board the bus suffered minor scratches and they were taken to a nearby hospital for medical examination.

The incident heavily damaged part of the bus, with many pieces of broken windshield glass seen on the sidewalk.

Relevant forces were deployed to assist with rescue work. They cordoned off the site, cut off the power and asked the family to leave the house as the structure was affected after the bus crash.

The bus driver lost control and crashed into the sidewalk eatery after trying to avoid hitting a child on the street, said local police.

The bus driver was required to take post-incident drugs and alcohol tests, with test results showing he was not under influence of drugs or alcohol.
