Passenger bus plunges into drainage culvert, killing three in Son La

VOV.VN - Three people were killed after a passenger bus veered off National Highway 6 and plunged into a roadside drainage culvert in northern Son La province, according to the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security.

The accident occurred at 4:15 a.m. on January 17 at Km225+150 of National Highway 6, in Lac Ken hamlet, Chieng Hac commune. The 36-seat bus traveling from Hanoi to Son La, left the roadway and crashed into a culvert on the right side of the road.

The vehicle was carrying 18 people, including 14 passengers, two drivers and two attendants. Three people died at the scene, while one person was injured and taken to Yen Chau Hospital for emergency treatment.

Upon receiving the report, Son La provincial traffic police dispatched officers to the scene and coordinated with the fire prevention and rescue police as well as other functional forces to carry out rescue operations, provide emergency assistance to victims and handle the incident in accordance with regulations.

Son La provincial police are investigating the cause of the accident.
