Overseas Vietnamese in France keep Tet traditions alive
Many Vietnamese expatriates in France have chosen pagodas in Paris suburbs to visit during the very first days of the lunar New Year (Tet), an age-old tradition of Vietnamese people.
Meanwhile, in Venezuela, the Vietnamese Embassy organised a warm Tet get-together for overseas Vietnamese in the South American country. The event was filled with Vietnamese folk songs and traditional Tet food, such as banh chung (square glutinous rice cake) and fried spring rolls.
Speaking at the function, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Dao Thanh Chung stressed Vietnam’s socio-economic progress in 2017 and highlights of Vietnam – Venezuela comprehensive partnership, particularly in agriculture.
Outcomes of bilateral agriculture projects have so far helped Venezuela ease food shortage and move toward ensuring food security in the future, he noted.
