Over 90kg of suspected rhino horns seized at Tan Son Nhat airport

Police and customs officers in Ho Chi Minh City on December 22 seized more than 90kg of suspected rhino horns at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

The suspected rhino horns were found in two shipments, with one weighing 138 kg sent via Singapore Airlines, and another weighing 74kg delivered via Cathay Pacific Airlines.

One of the flights transited in Singapore, while the other transited in Hong Kong (China).

The exhibits are now being kept at a warehouse of the Saigon Cargo Service Corporation located in the airport.

There are some 25,000 wild rhinos in the world, with the population dropping by 95% over the last four decades.

Conservationists have warned that rhinos will become extinct within the next 10 years if poaching is not stopped.
