Over 22 million Vietnamese students embark on new academic year

The occasion sees State President Vo Van Thuong send a congratulatory letter to education institutions regarding the opening of the new school year nationwide.

In the message he reminded students of all grades to consider learning as an important lifelong mission.

President Thuong also called for joint efforts to be made by the entire society and the education sector in order to build a truly healthy and safe educational environment.

Furthermore, the Government leader urged parents to stand alongside schools and society by educating and taking care of their children.

The morning of September 5 saw Party and State leaders take part in ceremonies held to welcome the new school year with teachers and students nationwide.

The State leader attended a ceremony at a boarding high school for ethnic minority children the Central Highland province of Gia Lai.

The previous day had seen Truong Thi Mai, a permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and head of its Organisation Commission, share the joy with students for the new school year at a boarding secondary school for ethnic minority in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.

Typical events were held during the ceremonies, including flag salute, national anthem singing, reading of the President’s congratulation letter to students, the school master’s announcement, and the beating of the school drum in order to mark the official start of the new school year.

They were then followed by musical performances, games, and sporting events featuring the involvement of all students.
