Over 11,800 new COVID-19 cases recorded nationwide over past 24 hours

VOV.VN - The Health Ministry confirmed the detection of a further 11,811 local COVID-19 cases on November 24, marking a rise of 663 infections from the previous day, pushing the overall tally during the ongoing wave to 1,150,625.

The three localities detecting the highest number of new cases were Ho Chi Minh City with 1,666 cases, Can Tho with 766 cases, and Tay Ninh with 754 cases.

Hanoi recorded 274 positive cases, with several being detected among the community and in lockdown areas. Of the daily tally, 6,578 cases were found within the community.

The Health Ministry also confirmed a total of 25,951 recoveries on the same day to bring the total number of recovered cases up to 937,261.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll also climbed to 24,243 following the confirmation of 125 deaths over the past 24 hours.

The average number of new cases nationwide for the past seven days now stands at 10,349 a day, while the national death rate has been at a daily average of 129.

Over 112 million people have now been vaccinated, with over 45 million receiving two doses.

This comes after Hanoi began vaccinating people aged 15 to 17 against COVID-19 on November 23, according to the Department of Health.

Over 304,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be administered during the course of the campaign which is expected to last three days, starting with the oldest.

The capital also plans to vaccinate all 792,000 children aged down to 12 by the first quarter of 2022.
