Over 1,000 VN citizens safely repatriated from Canada, Japan, Taiwan
VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines conducted three flights from Dec. 27-29 to bring home more than 1,000 Vietnamese citizens left stranded in Japan, Cadana and Taiwan (China) due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The passengers on board the repatriation flights were mainly made up of the elderly, pregnant women, students who had finished their courses but had no accommodation, guestworkers whose labour contracts and visas had expired, along with other special cases.
Ahead of the flights, the Vietnamese representative missions in Canada, Japan and Taiwan worked closely alongside relevant agencies of the host countries in an effort to assist citizens with travel procedures and other necessary steps which needed to be complete before departure.
Both airlines strictly implemented security, safety, and epidemiological measures during their flights to ensure the health of all passengers and prevent any possible spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Immediately after the planes landed at Van Don, Tan Son Nhat and Da Nang International Airports, all crew members and passengers underwent medical supervision and were swiftly transferred to quarantine facilities in line with COVID-19 prevention regulations.
Vietnamese agencies are arranging similar repatriation flights aimed at bringing home Vietnamese citizens stranded overseas in accordance with their wishes, as well as the epidemic situation and quarantine capacity in the country.
