Over 1 million students begin special high school graduation exam nationwide
VOV.VN - More than one million students across Vietnam began a special high school graduation exam for the 2024-2025 academic year on June 26.

The number of candidates this year amounted to 1.1 million, an increase of nearly 100,000 compared to last year’s exam, reported the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET).
The whole country has 2,493 exam councils with more than 50,000 exam rooms. Approximately 200,000 officials, teachers, staff, and supporting forces such as medical, security, and logistics teams have been deployed to ensure safety and security for the exam.
This is considered a historic and particularly special exam, as it is the first time two education programs - the 2018 General Education Program and the older 2006 curriculum – have been conducted simultaneously.
Candidates under the 2018 curriculum will take four tests, with Math and Literature as compulsory subjects. The remaining two are chosen from the following subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Technology, and a Foreign Language.
Candidates under the 2006 curriculum will do tests in Literature, Math, Foreign Language, and one of two subject groups: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education).
A notable innovation in this year's exam is the use of a highly secure and encrypted digital system to transmit exam papers, managed by the Government Cipher Committee. This modern technology ensures quick, safe, and labour-saving distribution, with absolute confidentiality.
Despite ongoing administrative restructuring in many provinces and cities, exam steering committees have adapted effectively to maintain seamless organisation and avoid any disruptions.
The exam lasts two days and the results are expected to be announced on July 16.
