Outstanding East Sea research works awarded

Outstanding research works on the East Sea in 2015 were honoured by the Foundation for East Sea Studies (FESS) of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in Hanoi on March 21.

The awards were granted to five press stories, 12 research articles and two research projects on the East Sea.

The East Sea research award was set up to support research and writing about the East Sea by individuals and groups at home and abroad.
This year, the organising board received 116 entries by more than 100 authors from agencies, organisations, schools, research institutes and press agencies in Vietnam and foreign countries like the UK, the US, Canada, the Netherlands and Brunei.

The FESS, established in March 2014, funds research by scholars, students and postgraduates who wish to contribute to protecting the country’s national sea and island sovereignty.

The foundation organises contests, seminars and discussions on the East Sea issue at home and abroad, in addition to supporting the publication of books and newspapers on the topic and granting awards for excellent research.
