Northerners feel warm before cold spell arrives on weekend
VOV.VN - The northern region of Vietnam is experiencing a slight temperature increase on April 4 before a cold front is expected to arrive on April 5, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Daytime temperatures are anticipated to rise to 20-29°C and beyond, especially in North-western localities, said meteorologists.
The capital city of Hanoi will be cloudy with no rain in the morning, but the clouds will clear by midday and afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 25-27°C.
However, a cold front is expected to strengthen in the northern region on April 5-6, bringing light rain and colder temperatures, particularly at night and early morning. During midday and afternoon, temperatures may rise slightly due to sunshine.
The name "nàng Bân" (literally "Lady Bân") comes from a folk tale, where "nàng Bân" is a figure symbolizing coldness, with light drizzle during the late spring days.
This weather phenomenon is called “Rét nàng Bân” - a typical weather phenomenon that occurs at the end of spring, usually around March in the lunar calendar, especially in northern Vietnam. It is a sudden and mild cold spell that typically lasts from 3-5 days, often accompanied by light drizzle or fog.
During this time, temperatures drop, especially in the mornings and evenings, creating a chilly feeling. However, during the day, the weather warms up slightly with some sunshine.
In 2025, the third lunar month lasts from March 31 to April 29. Therefore, the cold front on April 5-6 may be considered part of this weather phenomenon.
