Noi Bai Airport ramps up to handle 110,000 passengers for National Day
VOV.VN - Noi Bai International Airport is intensifying operations ahead of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, with the capital expected to receive nearly 110,000 passengers during the peak travel day, up 20% compared to the same period last year.

To prepare for the surge, Noi Bai International Airport convened a high-level conference on August 13 with representatives from airlines, service providers, and air traffic control units to finalise response plans for the holiday rush.
Forecasts indicate a sharp rise in both international and domestic arrivals during the peak period. International traffic is projected to reach record levels, with some days expected to see up to 44,000 inbound passengers, the highest figure ever recorded at the airport. This increase is largely driven by international delegations arriving in Hanoi for the National Day’s grand ceremony, as well as the recently expanded network of international routes at Noi Bai International Airport.
Domestic travel is also expected to surge, particularly as tens of thousands of people from across Vietnam travel to the capital for cultural and artistic events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Airlines and service providers have agreed on operational measures, including maintaining a 24/7 staffing schedule at the Noi Bai Airport Operations Coordination Center (AOCC) to ensure timely coordination and handling of any situations
To alleviate congestion and free up parking positions for incoming international flights, aircraft parked overnight will be proactively relocated to nearby airports. Additionally, arriving aircraft will be refueled in advance, allowing them to remain on standby in case of delays caused by weather or air traffic disruptions.
To Tu Ha, director of Noi Bai International Airport, said the airport has a strong track record in supporting major national events and is confident in its readiness for this year’s National Day celebration. “We have implemented flexible and carefully planned measures to adapt to any situation. All of our staff take great pride in contributing to the success of this important national occasion,” Ha added.
