No coronavirus infections on May 1 morning

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health announced on May 1 morning that Vietnam has not recorded new coronavirus cases in the community during the past 12 hours, though it is likely that more cases will be detected in the coming days.

Relevant forces are speeding up epidemiological investigations and tracing contact to early detect and quarantine those who had directly and indirectly come into contact with confirmed cases in a fresh coronavirus hotspot in Ha Nam and three other localities namely Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Hung Yen.

Hundreds of these people (F1 for direct contact and F2 for indirect contact) have been identified in a number of localities beyond the four affected cities and provinces.

All F1 cases were transferred to concentrated quarantine facilities for medical surveillance and COVID-19 testing. F2 cases were allowed to self-isolate at home under strict monitoring.

Ha Nam, a gateway to Hanoi capital, is becoming a fresh coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam after a man returning from Japan was diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus on April 28.

Notably, the man was confirmed as a COVID-19 patient after he had completed a 14-day quarantine period and tested negative three times.

However, he violated COVID-19 rules during his self-isolation at home, by travelling  away and meeting with friends. At least six cases in Ha Nam have been detected and many of them are relatives of the man. Experts say there are signs of a cluster of infections in Ha Nam.

Besides the seven cases in Ha Nam, the Ministry of Health also confirmed three cases in Hanoi, two in Hung Yen and one in Ho Chi Minh City, all closely linked to the Ha Nam case.

Meanwhile, the virus is apt to spread further in the community as many people are flocking to tourist destinations nationwide to enjoy a four-day public holiday, starting on April 30.

The Ministry of Health has advised people to strictly follow its COVID-19 recommendations, including the 5K message in Vietnamese, namely Khau trang (facemask), Khu khuan (disinfection), Khoang cach (distance), Khong tu tap (no gathering), and Khai bao y te (health declaration).
