Nine school teams qualify for VEX Robotics World Championship 2025 in USA

VOV.VN - Nine school teams have earned spots to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship 2025 in the United States this May after surpassing 200 other teams in the national round.

The VEX Robotics 2025 competition in the VEX IQ category for students under 15 years old took place at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on February 22-23.

After competing against more than 200 teams nationwide in multiple rounds, six middle school teams and three elementary school teams will represent Vietnam at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2025, due to be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas, USA, from May 6 – 14.

According to Dao Thi Hong Quyen, head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, VEX Robotics is not only focused on achieving competitive success but also prioritizes STEM education.

“It aims to disseminate knowledge about organizing a world-standard robotics championship to local communities, thus fostering the development of a diverse and inclusive STEM education ecosystem,” said Quyen.

In her opinion, the training process includes theoretical and practical sessions, along with certification, helping to train hundreds of individuals. Regional competitions have seen active participation from major private educational organizations such as FPT and EQUEST, as well as lecturers, students, and STEM experts from nearly 20 universities and academic institutions.

“The engagement of teachers from rural and highland areas further underscores the widespread impact of the competition across the country,” said the organizer.

In addition to the VEX IQ category, the competition also includes the VEX V5 category for high school students under 19 years old. The national round for this category will take place in Hanoi on March 1-2.

VEX Robotics is one of the most advanced and widely used robotics programmes in education. In 2018, the VEX Robotics World Championship was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the largest robotics competition in the world.

This year, the competition in Vietnam was organized by the STEM Education Promotion Alliance (SEPA), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Center for Science and Technology Development (CENSTED), and Vovinam Digital Corporation.
