The Vietnamese owners of the house are young parents who desired an inexpensive simple, warm and spacious house with plenty of light for themselves and their two young children. |

We took advantage of the spacious open area with relatively few surrounding homes or other buildings obstructing the sunlight, the architect said. |

To keep the cost down we minimized decorative details and used available local materials the homeowners could easily replace as needed to capture as much natural light as feasible. |

The majority of the front of the structure was constructed with a thick brick wall somewhat reducing the afternoon sunlight, creating a highlight for the cubes. |

All of the construction materials were locally sourced to reduce costs of delivery, construction and future maintenance. |

Besides that, some furniture was salvaged from their prior residence in order to economize, keep their memories, and bring familiarity to the family members in their new environment. |

Most of the decorative details were omitted to emphasize the simple design as well as the natural beauty of the materials. |
