Needy people to get rice from national reserves ahead of Tet holiday
VOV.VN - The Prime Minister has decided to allocate 12,736 ronnes of rice from national reserves to nearly 850,000 needy people ahead of the coming lunar New Year holiday (Tet) and during the between-crop period.
Accordingly, about 10,401 tonnes will be delivered to people of 17 provinces across the country, namely Soc Trang, Kon Tum, Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Gia Lai, Binh Dinh, Cao Bang, Nghe An, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Bac Lieu, Ninh Thuan, Binh Phuoc, Quang Ngai, Kien Giang, An Giang, and Tay Ninh.
The General Department of National Reserves has requested regional reserves to complete the task before February 9, 2024, or the last day of the 12th lunar month.
Meanwhile, more than 2.3 million tonnes will be supplied to people in the provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Dak Nong (in the Central Highlands), Kien Giang and An Giang (in the south), and Lang Son (in the north).
The Tet holiday is the biggest of its kind in Vietnam in a year. This year, employees will have seven days off work, lasting from February 8 to 14.
