The number increased by 4.2 percent from the previous month and posted a 0.9 percent year-on-year rise.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific, Bamboo Airways and Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) operated a total of 29,363 flights in the two-month period, up 22.8 percent from the same period last year.
Of which, Jetstar Pacific had the highest rate of delayed or cancelled flights with 838, accounting for 25.5 percent of its scheduled routes.
Vietjet took the second place with 2,677 delayed or cancelled flights, accounting for 21.5 percent of its total during the two-month period.
National carrier Vietnam Airlines reported 1,343 delayed or cancelled flights, accounting for 11 percent of its total, while VASCO had 98 delayed or cancelled flights at 9.2 percent.
The newly-launched airline Bamboo Airways reported 28 delayed or cancelled flights during the two months, accounting for 5.5 percent.
The CAAV said there were many reasons for the delays and cancellations, including late arrivals, flight management and operation and the equipment and services at airports.
Other reasons included weather and technical issues, the agency said.
