Nearly 2,000 Nghe An youth give blood to save lives
VOV.VN - Nearly 2,000 young people in central Nghe An province joined the “Hanh trinh do” (Red Journey) blood donation campaign in Vinh City on the morning of July 11.
Nguyen Luong Hong, chairwoman of Nghe An’s Red Cross Society, said hospitals in the region suffer a serious lack of blood during the summer. The province collected more than 29,500 units from 69 blood donation drives last year. Although around 16,258 units were contributed during the first half of this year, hospitals still faced a partial blood shortage. This campaign is expected to receive nearly 1,500 blood units, she added.
The 2018 Red Journey is expected to collect at least 30,000 blood units. By the end of July 11, the campaign has been organized in 24 out of 26 provinces and cities, receiving 22,517 units.
The campaign will continue to be held in Thanh Hoa before reaching Hanoi on July 13-14.
