National infections total 1,366 with one imported cases recorded

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on December 6 confirmed one imported COVID-19 case positive for the novel coronavirus, raising the overall number of infections in the country to 1,366.

The newly detected patient is a Libyan citizen who entered Noi Bai International Airport from Qatar on November 19. His test result came back positive for SARS-CoV-2 at the Hanoi Center for Disease Control, and the patient is currently being isolated to undergo treatment at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi's Dong Anh district.

Earlier on December 5, Vietnam registered four new imported cases of COVID-19, all Vietnamese, who were put in quarantine right upon their arrival.

As of December 6, the national infection tally stand at 1,366, with locally transmitted cases at 693, and imported cases at 673 which were immediately put into quarantine upon entry.

Among the patients undergoing treatment, 11 tested negative for the virus at least once or twice.

As many as 1,220 coronavirus patients have been declared free from the virus, while the fatality count due to COVID-10 remains unchanged at 35.

Currently, more than 17,000 people who returned from overseas or had contact with COVID-19 patients are being placed in quarantine for health observation throughout the country.
