National COVID-19 infections rise close to 3,000 on April 27

VOV.VN - The number of coronavirus infections continued to rise in Vietnam as 2,958 fresh cases were logged on April 27, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in its daily coronavirus update release at 18.00.

This is the highest number of COVID infections Vietnam has recorded in a single day over the past six months, said the MoH.

April 27 saw 1,062 patients recover from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries nationwide to nearly 10,620,000.

No more deaths were reported during the day after three cases documented in Hanoi, Nam Dinh and Ho Chi Minh in the past week.

To date Vietnam has logged 11,554,875 coronavirus cases, ranking 13 out of 230 countries and territories in the world.

As many as 43,188 patients have died of the virus and underlying illnesses, ranking 26th out of 230 countries and territories globally.

Health professionals warned about a high risk of virus spreading fast in the community in the coming days when people flock to entertainment centres or tourist destinations during the five-day break, starting on April 29.

They suggested that localities should closely monitor the developments of the virus and develop response scenarios, while local people should abide by prevention recommendations by the health sector, especially  when they venture out to crowded places.
