National conference seeks to remove obstacles to social housing development

VOV.VN - The Government is scheduled to hold a national conference on March 6 to remove difficulties and develop social housing projects in Vietnam.

The conference will be virtually connected to the administrations of all 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

The gathering will be attended by 200 delegates, including experts, representatives from the Vietnam Real Estate Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Real Estate Association, and major real estate companies such as Vingroup, Sungroup, Novaland, Hung Thinh Land, Becamex IDC Binh Duong, CEO Group, Him Lam, Capital House, Capitaland, Viglacera, HUD, and Ecopark, among others.

It will also be participated by leaders of relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and the State Bank of Vietnam.  

Delegates will review and seek solutions to overcome difficulties and obstacles in the development of social housing and the implementation of the project to build at least 1 million houses for low-income people and workers in the period from 2021 to 2030.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 27 2025 signed a decision, approving the target of completing social housing in 2025 and the subsequent years up to 2030 for localities to incorporate into their socio-economic development plans. Accordingly, Vietnam aims to build 995,445 apartments for low-income earners and workers in the 2025-2030 period.

According to the Ministry of Construction, since 2021 localities nationwide have completed 103 social housing projects with a total of more than 66,700 apartments. In 2024 alone, 28 projects were completed, providing nearly 21,900 apartments, a 58% increase compared to 2023.

Lawmakers discuss property market management, social housing development

The National Assembly (NA) is scheduled to discuss a report by a supervision delegation and a draft Resolution of the legislature on the results of the thematic supervision on the implementation of policies and laws regarding the management of the real estate market and the development of social housing within the framework of its ongoing eighth session in Hanoi on October 28.
