VOV.VN - A livestream gala which will be the highlight of the Mottainai programme is set to get underway at 7:30 p.m. on December 12 and will be broadcast on the website of the Vietnamese Women online newspaper at phunuvietnam.vn, aiming to raise funds to assist child victims of traffic accidents.

The event is being jointly organised by the Vietnam Women’s Union, the Japanese embassy, and the Japanese consulate general based in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event will see a large number of celebrities perform, including singer Thu Minh, circus artists and Guinness World Record holders Quoc Co and Quoc Nghiep, saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan, along with Jenny Phuong, the winner of Vietnam Idol 2016, and members of the Vietnamese Ao Dai (traditional long dress) club.

The gala will also be live broadcast on two fan pages, including https://www.facebook.com/baophunuvn and https://www.facebook.com/MottainaiPhunuVietNam.

The online show will make up one part of the eighth version of the Mottainai programme, with the scheme originally beginning from October 1 through a range of both offline and online activities, with the highlight set to be the livestream gala on December 12.

During the course of the initiative, auctions to sell handmade and recycled products will be carried out through https://www.facebook.com/baophunuvn at 11:30 a.m. each Friday until the end of December, serving to raise funds to support child victims of traffic accidents.

As part of this year’s programme, organisers have given scholarships to 100 child victims of traffic accidents nationwide, each receiving a sum of VND2 million, equivalent to US$87.

According to figures compiled by the National Traffic Safety Committee, a total of 12,985 traffic accidents claimed the lives of 6,048 people and injured 9,652 others during the first 11 months of the year, with there being an average of approximately 2,000 children who are traffic accident victims each year.
