More than 350 Vietnamese citizens brought home from Japan, US

VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on September 26-27 repatriated more than 350 Vietnamese citizens left stranded in Japan and the United States due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Passengers on board the flight were minors under 18, the elderly, sick people, holidaymakers, students without accommodation due to the closure of their dormitories, and other special cases.

Representative Vietnamese agencies in the US and Japan worked closely with relevant agencies in the host countries to assist the citizens with travel as well as necessary procedures at San Francisco International Airport in the US and Narita International Airport in Japan before departure.

Vietnam Airlines took a score of epidemic prevention measures to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 during the journey.

Upon arrival at Van Don airport in Quang Ninh province, all members of the flight crew and passengers underwent heath checkups and were immediately put in quarantine in line with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Vietnamese authorities and overseas missions are striving to arrange additional repatriation flights aimed at bringing home more Vietnamese citizens in the near future. The schedule of future flights is likely to depend on both the citizens’ demand and the quarantine capacity at home.
