Bamboo Airways brings home over 270 Vietnamese citizens from Russia
VOV.VN - Bamboo Airways on September 26 safely brought home more than 270 Vietnamese citizens left stranded in Russia due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Passengers on board the flight were minors under 18, pregnant women, sick elderly people, guest workers with expired labour contracts, students without accommodations due to the closure of dormitories and others in difficult circumstances.
Vietnamese representative agencies in Russia worked hand in hand with their relevant agencies in the host nation to facilitate the citizens’ travel to the airport in Vladivostok amid local travel restrictions due to COVID-19. They also dispatched staff to the airport to assist the citizens with necessary procedures prior to their departure.
Bamboo Airways strictly implemented security, safety and epidemiological measures during the flight to prevent the potential spread of the novel virus.
Right after touching down at Can Tho International Airport in southern Vietnam, all crew members and passengers underwent medical check-ups and were immediately put into quarantine in line with regulations regarding COVID-19 prevention and control.
Moving forward Vietnamese authorities and relevant bodies based overseas are striving to arrange additional repatriation flights aimed at bringing home more Vietnamese citizens in the near future. Indeed, the schedule of future flights is likely to depend on both demand and the nation’s quarantine capacity.
