More than 23 million students begin new school year

VOV.VN - More than 23 million students of all grades in Vietnam on September 5 began a new school year – the fifth year of the new general education program.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the opening ceremony of the new school year is organized economically, creating a joyful atmosphere for both teachers and students across the country as they begin the new academic year.

Schools hold the ceremony to welcome new students of Grade 1, Grade 6, and Grade 10, conduct the national flag-raising ceremony, sing the national anthem, and listen to Party General Secretary and President To Lam’s letter addressed to the education sector.

In his letter, the top leader recalled President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching in his letter to students on the first school opening day of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, that emphasized the importance of education and training to national development and asked students nationwide to study hard to help elevate Vietnam to the world.

According to the leader, the 2024-2025 academic year is the first year of implementing the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 91 regarding the continued realization of the Party Central Committee Resolution No. 29 and the rollout of the new General Education Program across all grades from Grade 1 to Grade 12.

“I hope that the education sector will focus on effectively carrying out this year’s theme of “Innovation, Quality Improvement, Unity, and Discipline,” said To Lam.

In his view, education and training should continue to centre on human development and human happiness, by maximizing the potential of individuals and making people the center, resource, and goal of development, thereby laying the foundation for achieving the goals of a prosperous, strong, democratic, just, and civilized society.

He encouraged all the students to study diligently, cultivate themselves, acquire and master knowledge, develop core competencies, and build grand aspirations to contribute to the nation’s growing prosperity and happiness.

The leader also encouraged teachers, school administrators, and education staff to remain passionate, dedicated, and innovative in their work, overcome all difficulties and contribute even more to their noble profession.

He urged parents to work closely with schools to foster a strong partnership between the school, family, and society for the sake of their children’s study, the healthy development of education and the prosperity of the nation.

The Party and State leader requested that ministries and agencies, as well as Party committees and local governments, further support the education sector through timely, practical, and appropriate policies, to ensure that teachers, students, and learners can teach and study in a healthy environment with all the necessary conditions to foster creativity and successfully carry out the educational reforms in the country.
