Missing British hiker found dead in Sapa

VOV.VN - A British man who was reported missing five days ago after he did not return from hiking Fansipan Mountain was found dead on June 9, according to local Sapa law enforcement officials.

Aiden Shaw Webb, 23, of Norwich, England was first reported missing on June 4.

On the morning of June 9, more than 50 people joined in the search including soldiers, police and militia, rangers and local residents.

The intensive rescue effort also involved dogs and helicopters.

On June 9 at about 1:00 pm, Aiden’s body was found off a trail at an altitude of 2800m, more than 1km from the pillar of telpher T4.

Rescuers believe Aiden may have been dead for as long as three days.

There is no word on whether the body would be taken for an autopsy.
