Ministry requests prompt vaccination as measles cases rise 42 times

VOV.VN - The country recorded 14,287 scarlet fever cases and measle infections over the past 11 months, up 42 times compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Health.

The disease claimed four lives in the reviewed period, said the ministry.

November alone witnessed a sharp increase in the number of suspected infections compared to 2023, with 7,159 fresh cases, including one death, documented nationwide.

The Ministry of Health has urged local authorities to strengthen supervision to early diagnose infection cases which occur in the community, healthcare facilities, and curb outbreaks immediately after cases are detected.

So far, nearly 961,800 children in 31 cities and provinces nationwide have received two doses of the vaccine against measles.

Local authorities have been requested to encourage parents to take their children for vaccinations on schedule in order to prevent the disease from spreading further.
