Localities are required to manage distribution effectively, preventing hoarding and unreasonable price increases.
In recent weeks, flu outbreaks have become more complex in several northern provinces, leading to a growing demand for flu medicines, especially antiviral drugs. To ensure adequate supply for flu prevention and treatment, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has urged relevant units to continue implementing measures outlined in Official Dispatch No. 3847, issued on December 2, 2024, which focuses on securing drug supplies for common winter-spring illnesses.
Provincial and municipal health departments are instructed to closely monitor flu outbreaks and medication demand, intensify inspections, and oversee drug distribution and usage to prevent stockpiling and price manipulation.
Hospitals under the Ministry’s management must proactively plan their stockpiles and procurement of flu treatment drugs, particularly antivirals, ensuring readiness and timely supply. Rational drug use is also emphasized to prevent the overuse of antivirals and minimize the risk of drug resistance.
Meanwhile, pharmaceutical manufacturers and importers must ramp up production and supply, develop distribution plans, and promptly fulfill orders from healthcare facilities. The Drug Administration of Vietnam urges all relevant units to implement these directives without delay.
