Mekong Delta hospital records 72 coronavirus infections
VOV.VN - As many as 72 patients and their caregivers at the Hemodialysis Unit of Dong Thap province’s Civil Military Hospital in the Mekong Delta have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The patients had underwent quick tests and they are now awaiting the results of RT-PCR tests, the Dong Thap provincial Centre for Disease Control said on August 23 evening.
Relevant forces isolated the positive cases for medical surveillance and treatment.
Dong Thap Civil Military Hospital has since July 10 been converted into a hospital for receiving and treating COVID-19 patients with a capacity of 300 beds. The medical facility has so far received and treated 246 patients, including pregnant women. In addition, the hospital has maintained its Hemodialysis Unit.
During a late meeting on August 23, Le Quoc Phong, Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, warned local residents are showing apathy towards COVID-19 prevention and control measures that has led to the spread of the virus to district-level localities,
Dong Thap recorded an additional 100 cases on August 23, raising its cumulative tally of infections to 6,111. About 3,652 patients have recovered from the disease.
The locality is one of the nearly 20 cities and provinces in the south that have extended social distancing measures in order to slow the spread of the virus.
