Logo unveiled to mark UN Vesak Day 2025 in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The winner of a contest to design a logo for the UN Day of Vesak 2025 in Vietnam has been announced.

A total of 40 entries were submitted to the contest, with the piece submitted by architect Minh Quang, which is designed to express the world’s peace, ultimately clinching the first prize.

The organisers also gave a consolation prize for architect Tran Thanh Tung.

The UN Day of Vesak 2025 in Vietnam is scheduled to take place at the Vietnam Buddhist University in Ho Chi Minh City from May 6 to May 8 next year.

The event is expected to attract around 2,000 participants, including 1,000 international delegates from 80 countries globally.

Vesak represents a sacred Buddhist event commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing into Nirvana of Gautama Buddha. It is observed on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month, corresponding to May in the Gregorian calendar. On December 15, 1999, the UN General Assembly officially recognised Vesak as an international religious and cultural event.

To date, it has been celebrated a total of 24 times, with 15 hosted in Thailand, once in Sri Lanka, and three in Vietnam. Previous Vesak celebrations in Vietnam were held in Hanoi in 2008, Ninh Binh in 2014, and Ha Nam in 2019.
