Local students win first prize at Huawei’s Tech4Good

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese team has successfully surpassed 23 strong rivals from 23 countries to grab the first prize at the Huawei's Asia-Pacific Tech4Good competition which was recently held in Shenzhen in China.

The team consisted of six members from four leading universities, including Mai Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, and Dinh Hoang Anh of the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology; Pham Quynh Trang from VinUni; Cao Sy Duong from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology; and Tran Dang Nam from Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport.

In order to compete in the competition, the six local students had to qualify for two rounds of "Seeds for the Future 2024" programme.

The team was able to win a prestigious title thanks to their SkyNet project, a drone-AI solution aimed at locating flood victims.

The project utilises drones with SAR radar and AI in a bid to accelerate rescue operations in flooded areas, thereby meeting criteria like high-resolution imaging, stable data transmission, and real-time reporting.

With this outstanding result, the team will advance to the 2025 Global Finals and receive startup funding and mentorship from Huawei leaders.
