Largest Vietnamese rice painting recognised

VOV.VN - A painting made from ST 25, one of the world best rice grains, has been recognized as the largest of its kind in Vietnam by the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings).

The demonstration took place in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on November 22 as part of the ongoing Ok Om Bok Festival – Ngo (Khmer long boat) race in the province.

At a demonstration ceremony, Tran Minh Ly, director of Soc Trang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the honour aims to promote the brand of Vietnamese rice, and to develop local tourism.

ST 24 rice was honoured among the Top 3 best rice in the world in 2017, while ST25 rice won top prize at the World's Best Rice Contest in 2019.

The painting made of ST rice is four metres high, seven metres wide, and 10mm thick. It was created by 10 artisans over a period of 30 days and was assembled from 14 small paintings with each sized one metre by two metres.

The piece of work showcases the development of the Vietnamese agricultural industry.

The Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) is expected to announce the new record at a ceremony to be held on November 25.
