Lao Bao border guards seize 30kg of smuggled fireworks

VOV.VN - Two men were arrested and 30kg of illegal fireworks seized on January 29 at the Lao Bao border gate in the central province of Quang Tri, according to provincial customs officials.

Authorities arrested Cao Dinh Minh, 28, and Le Manh Cuong, 30, both from the Dien Tien Commune of the Dien Chau District in Nghe An Province following a third man’s attempt to board a bus carrying the fireworks.

The dual admitted to buying 30kg of firecrackers in Laos and divided them into 20 boxes. They then hired the third man to transport the illicit fireworks into Vietnam through the border gate on the bus.

Customs officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
