Lang Son: 11 drug traffickers get death penalty
The People’s Court of the northern mountainous province of Lang Son on August 9 sentenced 11 people to death over the illegal storage, transportation and trafficking of 799 cakes of heroin.
The court also gave life sentence to other two defendants involved in the ring, including Lang Son-born Nong Thi Chang and Chu Duc Son from Hanoi.
According to the court’s indictment, between 2013 and 2014, the defendants transported a total of 799 cakes of heroin weighing more than 280kg from Son La through Hoa Binh and Hanoi to Lang Son and then China.
In the first six months of this year, Lang Son’s police brought to light 145 drug-related cases, arrested 232 suspects and collected 15kg of heroin and over 72kg of synthetic drug.
