Lam Dong police arrest Korean man wanted by Interpol
VOV.VN - Police in Lam Dong province, Central Highlands, have arrested Hong Sangwoo, 38, a Korean national wanted by Interpol for involvement in a transnational investment scam based in Cambodia.

Interpol states Hong was part of a fraud ring responsible for recruiting and training Korean members and providing Korean translation support for Chinese gang members. The group impersonated UK-based Janus Henderson Group to lure victims into investing through the KakaoTalk app, promising “high profits and absolute safety.”
Once in contact, victims were instructed to install a fake stock trading app designed to steal their assets. The gang reportedly swindled over KRW7 billion (more than US$5 million) from victims.
Interpol issued an international arrest warrant for Hong on September 6, 2024. On April 18, Vietnam received a request from Interpol to arrest him after learning he was hiding in the country.
Following his arrest in Lam Dong, Hong was handed over to the Ministry of Public Security to handle the case in accordance with international law.
